Oh, goodness. Another Dancing With the Stars season is upon us. It feels like it’s just been a few months since the big Kate Gosselin blowout - but it was just earlier this year, right? Eh. So, anyway, DWTS is not announcing their formal line-up of “stars” until Monday, but names continue to leak out in the tabloids. This week we’ve already heard the names David Hasselhoff, Jennifer Grey, Audrina Patridge, The Situation and even Kirstie Alley! Sources now say that Kirstie isn’t on the final list, though. We’re not that lucky. But E! News just confirmed one name that I wasn’t expecting: Bristol Palin. She’s a “star” now too.

It’s the Dancing With the Stars casting that no one saw coming!

We can report to you exclusively that Sarah Palin’s 19-year-old daughter Bristol Palin has been cast on the 11th season of DWTS, set to premiere Sept. 20, according to sources.

As for the reports that David Hasselhoff, Audrina Patridge, The Situation and Brandy will also be part of the cast, here’s the deal: All true, according to sources.

However, from what I’m hearing about those other rumors, Kirstie Alley won’t be there–and neither will anyone of Bachelor or Bachelorette fame (sorry, Ali and Roberto!), unless there are a few last-minute switcheroos.

A rep for ABC says: “We don’t comment on casting rumors. The real Dancing With the Stars cast will be revealed Monday, Aug. 30, live on ABC during Bachelor Pad.”

From the one episode of Jersey Shore I watched, I got the impression that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was the most stable kid out of the bunch of misfits and dimwits that make up the house. That’s truly not saying much. The guy also has strong name recognition due to his unique moniker and distinctive freakish abs, and he’s been cashing in. He’s applied to trademark his name and stands to make an incredible $5 million this year off the show, endorsement deals and event appearances. That’s pretty incredible for a kid whose claim to fame is being able to maintain a washboard stomach and party at the same time.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck made some ignorant and offensive comments on The View last week about how Dancing With The Stars competitor Erin Andrews was wearing such skimpy outfits that her stalker probably thought he could have avoided jail time had he just waited to see her half dressed until she was on the show. Erin’s stalker is currently serving a two and a half year sentence for stalking her, taping her nude and posting the video online. He’s victimized at least 16 other women.

Hasselbeck issued a tearful apology on The View the next day and told a personal story about how her daughter asked her why she didn’t just call Andrews and say she was sorry. She then claimed to have done just that, but according to Andrews that’s not true at all. Andrews, who initially called Hasselbeck’s remarks a “slap in the face to victims,” says that she never spoke to Hasselbeck. Andrews’ dance partner and rumored love interest, professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, clarified that he designs Andrews’ outfits and called Hasselbeck “jealous” and “stupid“:

Last week, Hasselbeck insulted Andrews’ skimpy DWTS costumes in light of the peephole stalker who posted a nude video of her (he is now serving a 2 1/2-year prison term). The next day, Hasselbeck tearfully apologized to Andrews on The View, saying that her 5-year-old daughter, Grace, told her to just call Andrews, “and I followed her advice,” Hasselbeck said.

But Andrews told UsMagazine.com at Monday night’s DWTS: “I didn’t speak with her, no. I never talked to her.”

The ESPN reporter, 32, says she’s “dealt with” Hasselbeck’s remarks. “I’m moving on,” she told Us. “I’m tired of talking about it. It’s a new week.”

Still, she admits she was pleased that partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy had her back. (Chmerkovskiy defended her: “I’m the one designing [Andrews'] dresses for the show, so I’ll just assume that [Hasselbeck] is jealous… and stupid….”)

“It was really nice to have Maks stick up for me and the entire cast and a lot of the media,” says Andrews, who got a 53 out of 60 for her Argentine tango and ’80s rumba. “We got a ton of support.”

She’s been called “American Idol’s” front-runner, but dreadlocked guitarist and singer Crystal Bowersox was ready to walk away from the show two weeks ago. According to sources, Bowersox wanted to quit “Idol” because she missed her family (she has a young son) but host Ryan Seacrest managed to talk her out of it by explaining the benefits of winning the show.

TMZ has learned “American Idol” contestant Crystal Bowersox threw in the towel a little more than two weeks ago and was walking off the show, when Ryan Seacrest did some fast-talking and changed her mind.

It went down in a parking lot after an “A.I.” show. In front of several people, Crystal told Ryan she couldn’t handle the competition…. she said she hated the attention and said to Seacrest, “What’s the point?”

Crystal said she was going back to Ohio to be with her family, whom she missed terribly.

Ryan told Crystal that being on “Idol” was like starting a business, and if she won she’d get a recording contract and become a millionaire.

Ryan Seacrest has just signed a three year contract with American Idol to rival some of the highest paid sports stars. Seacrest will receive a whopping $45 million for three more years with Idol. This goes to a guy who has managed to alienate the worlds’ most famous couple and who once asked a pregnant actress on the red carpet at the Oscars if she planned to breastfeed. It doesn’t matter how Ryan screws up his side jobs, though, because he’s decent at talking to aspiring singers and lobbing stupid banter at Simon and will continue to do that for an astronomical sum of money:

Sought-after bachelor Ryan Seacrest has become an even bigger catch: The American Idol host has closed what is believed to be the biggest deal ever for a reality emcee and will triple his current salary, according to the Hollywood Reporter. His new paycheck: $45 million for three years.

In exchange, says the trade paper, Seacrest, 34, will work exclusively for CKX, parent of Idol producer 19 Entertainment. Best of all, the deal only covers broadcast-network work.
